Homestay families receive an honorarium (currently $750 a month) in recognition of their commitment to providing students with all the agreed to family life amenities and support. The honorarium is forwarded just prior to the first day of the month in recognition of the month ahead.Our homestay manager, Nancy Blundell, works closely with families, students, and district staff to ensure that students receive consistent care through clear communication among all support providers.

Very few of our students request or require a change of homestay during the period of their study with us. Our approach to supportive problem solving and clear communication reduces the number of these requests significantly. However, where such circumstances arise the following applies:

Should the student be moved from your home at the student’s request, that move will occur after one month (from the day of notification). In these circumstance, a return of some portion of the forwarded honorarium will not be expected. An additional, pro-rated honorarium may be forwarded for any portion of the month’s time remaining which extends into a new month.

Should the student be moved from your home at your request, that move will occur as soon as a suitable new placement can be found. In these circumstance, your return of the forwarded honorarium, pro-rated to reflect the date of departure from your home will be expected.

Should the student be moved from the homestay as a result of the student’s failure to respect the terms of the signed Student Participation Agreement, a partial return of the honorarium may be required.

Should the student be moved as a result of a homestay family member’s failure to respect the terms of the homestay parent agreement, a return of a pro-rated honorarium amount reflecting the date of departure from your home will be required.
